Mechanics
Due to the open world nature and combined elements that are involved with Irithia, some aspects can become confused or cause conflict if everyone is not on the same page. In order to keep things fair and make sure we can all keep track of things this page will explain how certain aspects of the world are organized and controlled. This page helps to put a little of the control into players hands, allowing a better experience even when Staff is not immediately available!
NOTE: While we are still small, mechanics regarding the "real time" aspects of play are not applicable. They remain listed so as to be open about our plans for the world.

General
1. Each post must tag the character being used at the top in all capitals or marked off somehow. Please keep these tags to ONLY your character's name/alias and possibly a more specific location in which events are taking place and not anything else to avoid confusion.
2. The roleplay and its events occur in real time (following US Western timezone). Travel times and orders of events must be realistic, though exceptions to this rule may be afforded at Staff discretion.
3. Activity is somewhat like being logged in or out of a game- your character is idle to some extent whenever you are not actively posting. Each time you post again after a period of not posting you may fill in the missing time- however, progression of magic and skill can only be made through active posting (ie you cannot return from a 2 month hiatus and get a power boost from training that occurred behind the scenes.)
4. Combat situations will be handled on a case by case basis. Players may handle combat between their own characters at their discretion. They may also use the bot in the dice-rolls chat or ask Staff to regulate it(If Staff is available). However, should issues arise Staff may step in and take over as well as roll for or ask a player to roll at any time.
6. Any checks or rolls a player says they will do must be followed through on and must be done with the bot in the dice rolls channel. Please explain what the roll is for along with your command for the roll so they can be properly monitored.
a. If a roll is truly disagreeable to the player they may call for an appeal to void or . Other players involved or affected, as well as those witnessing the events, may weigh in for the decision especially in the case of Staff not being readily available.
7. Minor loot and rewards may be generated by players on occasion, but abuse of this privilege will have serious consequences.
a. However, any significant loot or encounters must be approved by Staff. This also extends to major purchases and upgrades. Please do so through the proper channel or by messaging the Staff account.
8. There are many different elements/types of roleplay involved in Irithia and, for the most part, which come into play during interactions is up to the players. You may communicate out of character to explain how you wish to proceed. However, there may be times at which Staff will enforce one type of play over another whether it be to prevent conflict or to move events along (This is particularly applicable in Quests).
Narration
At times, members or staff may act as Dungeon Masters of sorts known as Narrators. Aside from controlling major world events and plot lines, they may also insert Quests or Encounters to bring the world even more to life and to just keep things interesting. Narration is somewhat like the word of god as it controls everything in Irithia, from the weather to NPCs - it's an incredibly powerful role which requires great responsibility. As such, the privilege of being a Narrator is ordinarily reserved to those trustworthy enough to join the Staff team and exceptions are fairly limited.
1. In order to make these special posts stand out, the Staff or Narrator account will often be used to narrate, though some may also narrate from their own account and simply mark the post off with "Narration", "NPC".
a. Those officially authorized as Narrators will be assigned special Roles to mark them clearly.
b. To learn more about Narrators, how to become one, and the server Roles related to them check out the Narrators page!
2. If you feel there is an issue regarding a Narrator please feel free to bring it to the attention of Staff and/or submit a Grievance in the proper form. We'll look into the issue and take appropriate action as is determined best for the community.
3. Remember, actions have reactions! While random events and quest openings can crop up for no particular reason, Narration may also be used to reward characters for heroic deeds, to resolve issues without breaking the flow of roleplay, to dish out consequences for misdeeds, and all kinds of other things which may be the result of events or surroundings.
4. Events or actions which may not be in full control of a player and have uncertain outcomes or which a player may wish to be delivered without trace back to them can also be regulated or brought into play through Narration upon player request or Staff discretion. (Note: This feature is not accessible on a whim as Staff may not be available to carry out the request immediately).
5. Should you respond to a "Call to Action" or sign up to join a formal quest-line you are agreeing to be involved in a manner that is considerate to the other players. Remember, Irithia is meant to be in real time! Should you suddenly become inactive in the midst of a Narrated event or are taking too long to reply, it is possible your character will face consequences or be left behind. How things turn out will be left to Staff, the other players, or to how well you have communicated with us to handle your absence.
Non Player Characters
(NPCs)
Since Irithia is an open world, there are both player characters and non player characters alike which may be interacted with and move around. These characters are very helpful for telling your story and even just giving you something to do...However, there are some rules to keep things fair in regards to their use.
