The Races of Irithia
The world has 4 major races which each have their own cultures, customs, and physical attributes. On this page you can get a basic idea of what they are like, but for more details you can click on the buttons to get to their individual pages.
Efleim (Elf-like)
The Efleim are a pragmatic people, known for their tall heights, natural beauty and grace, and pointed ears. They are a highly opinionated and structured race, holding great pride in their morality and traditions. In order to keep their beliefs alive and flourishing, the Efleim are raised with strict and rigid teachings of their beliefs from a young age. Most of the Efleim kind follow the same ideals, however it seems that even where they differ it is in the same ways and they have still managed to simply split themselves into sub-kingdoms within their main government which align with these deviations.
Nephelim (scaled ones)
The Nephelim are a people who are proud and powerful, especially when united. Their military presence, in the form of Ireo warriors, is feared through the land. Beyond the race's large, muscular physiques, stony scale-clad and leathery skin, and fearsome horns they are a race that is like a brotherhood, fostering rivalries in its people but still able to unite as one great force. Still, some of their practices and perspectives lead other races to give them a sideways glance- particularly the Efleim, who they have long standing issues with.
Vaia (fairy folk)
They are almost like petite versions of the Efleim which sport wings, leading many to believe they are somehow connected. While the largest portion of them seem to follow one organized government, many seem to split off into other ways of life or structures of their own.

Demlese (animal people)
A race that seems to be on its last legs, divided by those trying to live on in a new way and those who hold tight to their traditional ways of living. These people are mostly humanoid aside from sharing a few traits with their kin animal. They are stereotyped as being a barbaric and uncivilized people due to their traditional ways of life and lack of natural affinity for magic.
Naturally more physically capable and less magically inclined.

Troks (supersize dwarves)
A humbled but broken and angry people, the Troks remain very secluded in their few underground cities. Choosing to interact with almost exclusively their own people and hardly ever coming to the surface unless they absolutely must, the Troks have evolved to have very poor sight and make up for this with echolocation. Due to their self-sufficient ways of life which involve farming deep in the ground and further tunneling or upkeep of their caverns, they have also become extremely physically fit and most of their people have extremely bulky, muscular forms.
Naturally very physically powerful but lack any magical capability.

Draeia (magical parasites)
Once a glowing and vibrant race, the Draeia are now an extremely bitter people who look upon other races with disdain. With their source of sustenance run dry by those who were never meant to even lay eyes on it, the Draeia are now frail and pale and so emaciated they have barely even the strength to walk in some cases. Despite this, their magical capabilities have remained intact and they remain the most magically capable of races, able to stretch beyond the limits that other races are confined to in terms of how much they can learn.

Varet (lost ones)
A quirky and fairly chaotic people that are sparse and known to be the most spread out of any of the races despite their small number, and thus proving to be producers of the most unpredictable of individuals as far as knowing what to expect should you encounter one. Strangely enough, they also seem to be the race most considered to be "all the same" by many others. They are generally strong bodied and known for their incredibly sturdy horns and strange, colorful blood which may glow.
Human
Average but very versatile, Humans are just that...Human. As a people they are the least involved in all of the world's conflict, making them the least likely to face any persecution in other lands as well as leading them to open their own lands to those of other races to live on and for larger trades (giving them access to all kinds of goods exclusive to other races).
Halflings (mixed race)
In the world of Irithia, those of mixed blood are not only very rare but highly frowned upon- in most areas, they are even illegal and actually hunted. Still, though it is difficult for a couple of mixed race to conceive at all, some DO still come to exist. If they survive their infanthood, they usually live in hiding and on the run from those who would have them put to death.
Halflings can only ever be a mix of two races, and most take on most of their genes from one race- usually that of their mother- with a few traits from the other sprinkled in. Most find their lives to be incredibly difficult, not only from the constant persecution they face but also due to the many complications they may develop because of their genetics.
Different races take different approaches to handling Halflings. Some may execute them and their parents as soon as the status is discovered, others may signal people of their shame by having them and or their parents marked permanently. In general, Human hybrids are a bit more acceptable and punished a bit less harshly. However, this is mostly because it is more difficult to spot them and their features are far less mixed.
Note: Because Halflings are outlawed and difficult to bring into the world/have a hard time surviving they are rare. As such, Halfling characters will be fairly limited. PLEASE ASK BEFORE MAKING A HALFLING CHARACTER.
